"The Sound of Music" at Resorts World Manila this October 15, 2011!

Come October 15, 2011, Resorts World Manila is bringing to the Philippines one of the most beloved Broadway musicals of all time—The Sound of Music.

Based on the memoirs of Maria Augusta von Trapp, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers, the musical has touched people’s hearts all over the world with its inspiring tale of love, courage and family values, told through the immortal songs of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein including "The Sound of Music," "Edelweiss," "My Favorite Things," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" and "Do-Re-Mi."

People who grew up loving the musical, as well today’s young audiences, will be enthralled as the real-life story of the von Trapp family comes alive once more onstage.

World-class theater actress Joanna Ampil will portray the role of Maria, while award-winning thespian Audie Gemora will play Captain von Trapp. Musical scoring will be provided by no less than the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, with Maestro Roel Colmenar as the Musical Director. The production will be directed by Roxanne Lapus.

Audiences will be able to catch The Sound of Music six times weekly at the 1,500-seat Newport Performing Arts Theater, one of the country’s grandest entertainment venues today. With its LED wall backdrop—the largest ever built in the Philippines—as well as state-of-the-art light and sound technology, this theater is fully equipped to recreate the breathtaking Austrian scenery and bring the beautiful music to life.

"SEUSSICAL - Anything Possible" will run fron August to December 2011

Now one of the most performed shows in America, "Seussical" is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty ("Ragtime," "Once On This Island") have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination--Jojo. "Oh, the Thinks You Will Think" as the spirit of imagination transports the colorful characters from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.

For this version, certain plot elements have been simplified and runs approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes - perfect for presentation in schools.

The story centers around Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge--not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes "his kind and his powerful heart." Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that makes you laugh and cry.
